O Regedor Café Bar. Who’s this place for? Anyone looking for a quick bite to eat and a reasonably priced beer, wine or sangria while taking a break from exploring the city.
I’ve been coming here for over a year on a regular basis as it’s just around the corner from Restauradores Metro Station and only a minute or two from Rossio Square. It’s only a small place with a handful of tables inside and an outdoor seating area, which is ideal for sitting with a beer and watching the world go by.
One of the reasons I keep coming back is the great selection of food and drinks. I was here during the Casamentos de Santo António and was heading off to photograph the Marchas Populares later that evening, so I wanted something quick that would keep me going before a long night with the camera.
This time I ordered the Cachorro, a Portuguese-style hot dog served with bacon and topped with those little crispy potato sticks that seem to end up on everything in Portugal. Mine came with crisps on the side and, naturally, a nice cold beer. It’s not fine dining and it doesn’t pretend to be, but it was tasty, filling and exactly what I needed before heading off to Avenida da Liberdade.
Who’s this place for? Anyone looking for a quick bite to eat and a reasonably priced beer, wine or sangria while taking a break from exploring the city. I’ve been back plenty of times over the last year, which probably says more than anything else.
