Casual Lounge Caffé Belém Review

After working in Belém doing a sunset shoot for a client and getting some fresh photos of Belém Tower now that the scaffolding has finally come down, I was getting ready to jump back on the 15E tram into Lisbon. The week before, I had noticed a place called Casual Lounge Caffé on the same road the tram runs along and ended up chatting with the owner for a while.

What makes the Casual Lounge a bit different is that it is not just a café or bar. It is also part gallery space with artwork on the walls, board games on the tables and even a quiz playing on the TV while people eat and drink. It has a really relaxed atmosphere that feels more like somewhere you could spend a few hours rather than just stop for food.

I had noticed the burgers looked good the week before, so this time I decided to actually try one. I went for the Klimt Burger, which came with cheese and bacon on a black seeded bun. I honestly have not eaten a burger since 2025, but this one was worth breaking that streak for. The burger was juicy, full of flavour and properly cooked, while the bacon was done perfectly. It came with French fries and a side sauce that I recognised straight away once chef Ricardo explained what it was — alioli.

Without doubt, I will be going back. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced for Lisbon. Alongside the burger menu they also do what we would probably call pub grub in England, but with a Mediterranean twist, alongside cocktails, wines and spirits.
