Dear Breakfast a chilled out spot in Alfama Lisbon, Ideal for breakfast/brunch before walking past
Lisbon Cathedral and up the hill into Alfame.
I went to Dear Breakfast just off Largo de Santo António da Sé, it’s on the road leading up to Alfama and right near Lisbon Cathedral. My daughter and her friend were visiting and wanted breakfast, so I brought them here. It’s not exactly a hidden gem given the location, but it’s clearly popular, and from what I understand, a lot of locals also order from here.
My daughter went for scrambled eggs on toast with crispy bacon. Her friend had the hash browns topped with grated parmesan and what tasted like a hollandaise-style sauce. I ended up trying a bit of both, and the scrambled eggs stood out straight away, easily some of the best I’ve had. The food was well presented, and everything felt properly put together without being over the top.
They had iced coffee and fresh orange juice, while I stuck with a regular coffee. The total came to around €27, which isn’t cheap, but for the quality and setting, it felt reasonable. It’s a busy spot, but worth it if you’re in the area and want a solid breakfast.
