Groovie Records One of the coolest record stores ever with a twist its also a bar. If you’re into garage, punk or alternative culture it’s a must, its, so cool! This review forms part of my Lisbon Guide, where I share places I’ve genuinely discovered while exploring the city with my camera.
One of Lisbon’s Coolest Hidden Gems
One of the things I enjoy most about living in Lisbon is simply wandering. The other day I was exploring beyond Graça, away from Alfama, and came to a fork in the road. I took the left-hand road without really thinking about it, and about 150 metres further on I spotted a shop called Groovie Records. At first I assumed it was just another record shop, until someone put a chalkboard outside advertising craft beer and draft beer. That immediately caught my attention.
Stepping inside was a complete surprise. This isn’t just a record shop – it’s part vinyl store, part bar and part social space. Every wall is covered with vintage posters, classic album artwork and music memorabilia, while rows upon rows of vinyl records, CDs and singles fill the shop. Then I spotted a bright yellow Chopper bicycle hanging on the wall. I had one as a kid, so that alone brought back plenty of memories.
At the back of the shop is an L-shaped bar with a few stools, tables, DJ decks and a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to stay for a while. After chatting with the owner and browsing through the records, I treated myself to a cheeky Sagres. It was over 28°C, after all, and as the old saying goes, the sun is over the yardarm somewhere.
If you’re looking for something different in Lisbon, Groovie Records lisbon is the place, an absolute hidden gem. Whether you’re a serious vinyl collector, enjoy a craft beer, or simply appreciate quirky independent businesses. The 12e & 24e trams stop opposite, coming from Alfame and there is a stop around 40 meters on the other side if you are coming in the opposite direction. It opens from 11am-11pm.
